I am going to reply here despite being a total CX novice (2 races) but a total convert ( CX is GREAT)
When a WW decides to shell out his hard earned on a "Base Bike" and then uses this as his springboard to bike Valhalla then I think that it is bad form for others to sneer at him!
This is the true path to WW'ism - get the best mainstream, then upgrade, then research even better + lighter, starve and save, buy the component, boast on the Forum, find out that there is better , starve and save ..... go bespoke .................... and your'e hooked
Don't block the path
ps despite a broken Collar Bone I am a CX convert
keep on mud-pluggin'

I've made some changes on parts before riding it and just waiting for my last component
Not ridden yet, but expect to see it very soon...

Today i scaled my '12 superx rival, 8800g as pictured..
It'll decrease 100g more, after installing the masterpiece post. *waiting for delivery
I'd also like ksyrium elite's on this bike but i'll give a try to fulcrum's for now..
With elite's, it'll be near 8.2kg which is light enough for me.

Minor changes i've made over stock rival bike..

-11/26 cassette and rival short c. derailleur with 11/32 cassette (290g) and apex long cage der. (210g)
-C2 bar with zipp 46 slc2 eb 194g
-Controltech ti-carbon skewers 68g
-Ti bolt update for stock c2 stem 109g
-Crankbrothers candy 1 pedals 270g
-Masterpiece post *still waiting delivery ???

If i like the bike, i also plan a crankset upgrade (sram force or fsa slk) with the elite wheelset.

Elites will be nice. No such thing as light enough :)

This is my latest setup with xx 36 cassette and rear derailleur.(X10sl chain is missing there  )
Tires are schwalbe dureme evo 40c size. They are really huge but now it's a super comfortable performance touring bike
I also changed the stock trp pads with swisstop ghp2 green's.. They work silent and very powerful.
Weight is 8380g, including the kmc chain.

What kind of braking improvement did you see with the pad upgrade? I have TRP Eurox's and they're sheit. Looking for any advice on improving braking power. I'm 84 kgs and need more out-right power.

1-)They work silent! The stock trp black pads began squealing after using some period.
2-)Braking modulation feels better and stronger.
3-)Swissstop's work cleaner on the brake tracks..

I've also used the euro-x canti's, before cx8.4's.. I was satisfied with the braking power, but it just gets some time to adjust them perfectly.
Of course cable routing and the lengths also play a important role on modulation and power.
