I tried a brand new out of the box KMC X10SL on my XG-1090 11-28 over the weekend. It was unbearably loud. Stuck the 1091R back on, and it was nice and quiet once again.

Seems bizarre that there would be such a difference in noise.

Anyone have experience with a shimano chain on the XG-1090? (I've got some new praxis rings which don't recommed the SRAM chain)

I'll be the third or so to say I have had this same experience. I went with the KMC X10SL based on rave reviews but it just seems a lot noiser than the 1091R. I like the fact that they KMC chain comes in black or red/black, which looks cool, but I think I am going to have to go back to 1091R chains for my New Red cassettes.

1091R is 1 gram lighter than the KMC 10SL, I have two of each and double verified. Also 100% acurate is the 1091r is much quieter than the KMC.
