Hello,

I am looking to get my Cannondale down to 14lbs. I am currently at 14.23. I know I could save most of it by putting Zero brakes on; however, the price tag is a bit steep for me. Does anyone have suggestions? Help would be great. Thank you in advance!

Change tires and then cut off any of your seat post that isn't necessary. All together that might get your 108. If not enough, you can get a 100g seat, but I'm not sure how comfortable it will be.

Those wheels are a bit heavy. maybe just swap out the rims for something lighter? Could lose some going to a selle italia carbonio saddle (125g)

titanium skewers cheap off eBay will be half of your. present skewers weight. Planet X brakes will be lighter by 80 grams. There you go! if you got spare cash you can get an extralite ultrastar 2 expander for your fork too.Or change to alligator ilinks cable set.

Ditto on the above. By my count you'd cut 79g on the Planet-X brake set for $150 (shipped) + 45g on any number of ebay sourced ti quick releases for around $50ish (shipped)

That's 124g for about $200.

Titanium spindles for your zeros will give you the best bang for the buck. I'm doing it as I speak. Also, replacing your current crank with the new 2013 Red cranks and after-market rings will save another 100 grams. Both the spindle and crank weight savings are rotational weight savings you could really feel while pedaling. I saved 160 g. by switching just the crank and I could feel a reduction in rotational inertia. Good luck.

Also, one should never overlook things like helmets, etc. I saved 100g. by switching helmets. And you could really feel the difference the moment you put the lighter helmet on your head.

Remove rim tape and use Veloplugs, thats 20+ grams saved
Swap chain for KMC 10 Sl? (the light one)
Planet X skewers at 44g a set

Larger cost, but get rid of the Force and go Red

The pedals are cheating, they are only light cos the cleats are on the bike and the pedals are on your feet, total weight higher than KEO blades or Keywins
Cervelo S3 2011. Blinged 6.718 Kg

Planet-x screwers: weightsaving: 46g - price: $20(in the US and £20 in EU)

Ward titanium spindles for the pedals - weightsaving: ~40g - price: $50-60(cant remember the exact number)

That's almost 90g for $80.

then there are the cages. You can get some 12g carbon cages on ebay for not much money and a set of RothShek carbon pulleywheels for the RD will also save som grams + add some bling.

And then (as already mentioned) you can get an Extralite/Tune expander for the headset, cut the seatpost and if you are using some heavy bartape, then you can get some Deda cork(that stuff only weighs 35g). Then you should have more than 108g saved for not much $$

+1 for the planet X brakes & QR skewers (I have both on the way to me from the UK for my next build) that is your 108g target already for about $120 + shipping

add to that some lightweight carbon bottle cages, titanium pedal spindles & xtralite/Tune expander that should be over 100g for about $150

Thanks for all the responses! I'm looking into the skewers and planet x brakes now. I am about 190lbs. So I'm weary of titanium spindles. My helmet is a giro prolight. Pretty light already. I went back and forth with the idea of red. It just didn't seem worth it. I found a new force group for 700. Red is more Than twice that and from what I have found most of the weight savings is in the cassette. Which I have. Other than that the difference is approx 60 grams. Not worth the price tag. I'm surprised by the recommendation of changing tires and wheels. Elans are one of the lightest out there; while only supersonic seem to be lighter tires. I apologetically admit that speedplay is a sneaky move; however, it was a functional decision. I wanted the dual sided clip option.

what outer and cables do you have?

going to powercordz+nokon/similar should save a decent amount

if you did that, plus the brakes and the skewers, total might be >200g saved
