I assume a front derailleur hanger is built specific to each frame manufacture? Is that ture? Long story but i bent my front derailleur hanger on my road bike and managed to get it straightened back out and got everything working again but thought it wouldn't hurt to have a spare kicking around.
Do you normally have to order one straight from the manufacture?
Thanks,

Only if the front derailler hanger/mount is removable for your frame.
More often than not, they are either riveted in or directly moulded (if CF)
Trek models may have the capability of replaceable front derailleur mounts, as BTP makes a 'lighter' version for upgrades.

Thanks, I had to take mine off the bike to straighten it. Just haven't had time to stop at a shop to ask if they are available or if I should just contact the manufacture directly.

Could you post some more details about this? Year/Make/Model in particular. A picture would be excellent.

Seems like Cannondale does it too. A friend at work got a new derailleur hanger from Cannondale and changed the broken one on a SuperSIX Evo frame.

that looks an awful lot like the one used on Specialized Transitions.
Cervelo p4/5 may be similar enough.
kuota kfactor too.

Rideuphill,
Just came on this today.
Norco had some issues with 2010-2011 CRR's front derailleur hangers. The alloy piece was too soft. It happened to a friend's Norco too.
Norco simply sent a 2012 FD hanger. Problem solved, under warranty.

Thanks LouisN,
Norco seems impossible to contact but I ended up finding one at a local shop and they said it was recently sent to them directly from Norco. That was September 2012 so hopefully it is the modified version you speak of.
Thanks again,
