Wondering if liam7020 could update us on how this rig is performing: http://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=94430&p=860901#p860901

I, for one, am very curious to hear riding/handling feedback on this particular frameset.

thnx!

Yeah I've just completed a cx season on this bike and I've nothing but praise for the frameset. I bought it from Carbonzone on ebay and had it delivered unsprayed. The decals were made up by the Brazilian guy Marco Pollo and I had the frame matt cleared by a local pro sprayer. The frame only weighs 1224g and the fork 429g which is pretty light for a cross frameset. I had no build issues and the frame is responsive and handles very well. I'm 6', weigh 12.5 st and I bought the 54cm which fits perfectly.

Feel free to ask any specific questions but it might be next week before I can reply. I'm off to Belgium this evening to ride the Tour of Flanders sportive on Saturday. I'll actually be using another Chinese frame for that ride - a FM015 again bought from Carbonzone . I used that bike in Flanders last year and it was perfect on the cobbles. So I've no complaints thus far - may be a different story on Saturday evening!

Good luck in your sportive

I suspect you will have a few questions waiting for you when you get back.

Thank you liam7020 for the update. Consumers approach the unbranded/generic Chinese products with much caution, so it is great great to have feedback from (brave) people who've put these frames through the motions.

I have to say, it's kinda crazy liam7020 is riding a 54 at his height, which probably suggests we smurf-types look carefully at sizing charts. I'm going to troll the www & see if I can find one.... (EDIT: found it, see below, and if it interests you, read up on ordering/pricing details on a recent buy here: http://www.velobuild.com/component/kunena/31-fm058-dengfu/179-fm058-group-buy?Itemid=0 )

I have a good friend who built up a 29er Chinese frame (from LT Bike)- the seatpost collar area looks to me exactly like the FM508 above. My friend couldn't be happier with the ride, and the pricepoint. He's taken a few tumbles on it too, with no issues.

For those interested, aside from the above ww topic link in the OP, you can read up more details on liam7020's rig, which are posted on roadbikereview: http://forums.roadbikereview.com/bikes-frames-forks/chinese-carbon-thread-ebay-direct-version-5-0-a-241785-165.html

Great little frame there. Only thing I wish they could do is make the 58mm BB drop a 69 or 70mm BB drop then that bike would be golden.

A few of the frame features remind me of my Full Tilt Boogie. Six degrees of separation b/w Taiwanese-built CX frame? I think not :-)

The DT to BB sweep reminds me of the Belgian "columbus" brand CX bike, although it doesn't have the older style ladder dropouts found on the Columbus bikes

Agreed on the BB drop being ~10-12mm off from the typical 68-70mm on most cx frames.

AFAIK, Ridleys (x-fire, bow) have similar BB drop (57mm) on sizes for us 170cm shorties. So I guess my next question is, can anybody who's ridden a 48-50cm Ridley X-something compare the ride to frames with BB drop closer to 70mm? I know... there's a lot other measurements

If anyone is interested in getting this frame you should follow this link and get in on the groupbuy. We need two more people to make this happen.

Here is my paint proof from Lucky.

I am going to make a build thread once the order goes through that goes in detail from concept to completion with my experiences.

when I said "this frame" I mean the FM058 carbon clear coated. The paint example is just what I decided to do.

That depends on which trading company/manufacturer you order from, as DengFu and HongFu offer a choice of BSA & BB30 but I think recently Icann started also offering PF30 as a choice over BB30.

Attempting to resurrect this thread to get some clarity on the geometry of this frame. I am strongly leaning towards buying one but have found two differing geometry charts.

This one from Shenzen which shows TT C2C at 532.2 for a 52:http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/specialized-cross-cycle-Non-ISP-frame_1465290742.html

And this one, also from Shenzen that shows TT C2C at 517.2 for a 52 http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/d ... 14445.html

I realize that I really need to look at effective TT length but am just trying to find the frame that closest resembles a 54 TT.

Can anyone help clarify this for me?

Thanks

Does anyone know if I could port my Trek 7.2 FX cyclocross components (gears, brakes, post, saddle, bars, everything) to this frame, and how difficult it would be?

I am addicted to carbon frames, so my Trek bike is sitting unused. It looks really cool above. I could get to love my born-again Trek again.
