I like the statement, (even if its unintentional) of using a partially recyclable material frame with recycled equipment, and its a welcome tonic to the prevelance of over colour co-ordinated "which shade of blue do you think my headset bearings should be?" bikes respendent in this forum.
It would make a nice fire

Besides the interesting component mix (which might actually be part of the theme), whats up with the ~5kg overweight? Nearly 11kg is full suspension MTB territory, from a WW perspective at least.
This build deserves to be stickied.

My steel bike with Ultegra is about that weight

My winter bike (alloy) weighs that, Boat anchor fork, boat anchor wheels, boat anchor crankset, boat anchor 105/tektro brakes... only thing reasonable might be the inner tubes
I write the weightweenies blog, hope you like it

Lots of good bamboo out there that can be built into a much lighter, raceable bicycle. Nick Frey (Boo Bicycles) makes bamboo frames at about 1500 grams that have been raced at the highest levels here in the US, and not just as a novelty item. They can be built at or near the UCI weight limit with a high quality mainstream spec. Calfee does bamboo also. Apologies to the OP, but the material is now done well enough that his bike is not a novelty and the spec is an abomination. Enjoy it and ride it in good health, but WW ain't the place to show it off.

Frame weight was just over 2600g with no fittings. 10.46kg with no bottle etc.
Most parts are second hand except for fork, bars and stem purchased new. (safety first).
Ive never had a drivers license so this is both my race bike and commuting bike. Raced Cat 2 yesterday over a lumpy course and got 5th overall. A couple of riders on tuned cervelo's and SL3 tarmacs got dropped on the main climb.
Here is my bar tape after the race. I got it from a bin at the local bike shop.
Bit of tape and should get a few more thousand miles out of it.
Ive just ordered an american classic tubless rim matched with a powertap g3. durability is a focus for me as well as lightweight.
