I just got a set of Mavic OP laced to Ultegra 6700 hubs. I installed my sram red xg-1090 cassette with the specified torque. It seems that there is a small amount of lateral play in the cassette. Is there any spacers needed? Or is the small amout of play ok?

I don't think any play is good to have for the cassette. It would mess up your shifting. If there is play, that means you need an extra spacer before the cogset.

Some hubs require a 2mm or 3mm spacer behind the cassette... I have a 2mm one with my Red Cog... on a Mavic KSL Hub

i just read the sram cassette manual and it stated something about a short length lock ring if you have any play. would the spacer do the same as the shorter lock ring? seems that a spacer would be cheaper.
