I’ve been looking to get a Pegoretti for a few years now and as luck would have it a fellow WW Forum user was selling his frameset a few months back. The eagle eyed among you will recognise this frame (it is fairly distinctive) from it’s previous incarnation and you can read all about it here: http://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=90213

So whilst the frame is not new to the forum it is new to me. For the build I wanted to keep it classic in style, fairly light, and mostly black so the focus is the frameset. The weight came in at 7.58kg, which isn’t too bad for a 58cm stainless steel frameset.

I’d like to thank Jon at http://www.justridingalong.com for building the wheels and sourcing the second 12T lockring after the Royal Mail lost the first one!

The result, and build list is below:

Responsorium 58cm - F&F inc CK headset, der band, SR cups, Thomson collar, dura ace downtube shifters 2544
Front Wheel - 28 2x Chris King R45, X-rays, Ambrosio F20 623
Rear Wheel - 32 2x Chris King R45, X-rays, Ambrosio F20 771
Front Tyre - Veloflex extreme 231
Rear Tyre - Veloflex extreme 231
Skewers Pair - Planet X 43
Saddle - Antares Braided 159
Post - Thomson 30.0 300mm 242
Stem - 3t Team Stealth 110mm 127
Bar - 3t Ergosum Ltd 44cm 185
Chain - Record ????
Crankset - Record Double 172.5 635
Front Brake - Record Dual 152
Rear Brake - Record Single 128
Ergo's - Record 337
FD - Record 74
RD - Record 172
12-27 Cassette - Record 248
Pedal - Speedplay with Ward Ti axle 165
Chian catcher - K-edge inc bolt 9
Cables - Campag Ultra low friction ????
Tape - Fizik ????
Total 7580

I will be switching out the post for a WR Compositi one when and if it arrives which might shave a few more grams

Beautiful. Just awesome. Enjoy it! Be interesting to see what you think of it compared to the Cervelo.

Love it. The way a Pegoretti should be built.

Looks familiar! Nice job!

Agree on the seatpost. It will set it off nicely.

Maybe need to mount the shifters higher on the bars and angle the bars down a bit.

Those wheels look just right too. If you fancy some deep sections, let me know. I am about to sell my brand new Bora Ultra 2 with Competition tubs.

Happy miles. No light weight, but sublime ride.

Thanks Andrew, am looking forward to getting a few more miles on this one when the rains stops!

The bars are actually flat, so I guess it's the angle of the photo makes them look upward sloping

Beautiful bike! I once had a wheelset similar to yours, but i rebuild the hubs with some clincher rims. Still regretting the descision :(

I really don't like the shape of the bars IMO but it's a lovely bike...the black components allow the frame to really stand out and the wheels balance it out beautifully...

It is exacerbated by the levers being way too far down the bar. The OP must be double jointed or a masochist to use the hoods!

She is a beauty.
Just the right amount of black to focus the eyes on the frame.
