these are the two local 10 mile TT courses I've ridden and compared to most of my local area I'd consider these flatish. the longer 25-50mile courses have similar amounts of climbing per distance and seem to have lots and lots of turns.

I've ridden a crit where my power output for an hour have been 300+ watts but in that the power isn't very constant.

Climbing, turns, rogue Hobbits, whatever. Do one of those longer TT's for sure. Will certainly give you a much better idea of your 60min power.

You might also find you like them ;)

Rather than do a seperate 20 minute test, I just usually use the last 20 minutes from my many regular 20km+ TTs.*

I raced a 40km TT recently and a 20km TT the week after. For me, comparing the 40km TT and last 20 minutes of the 20km TT confirmed the *0.95 as accurate for me.

5 seconds- 1040 watts
1 minute- 589 watts
5 minutes- 365 watts
FTP- 305 watts

19 years old and in my first year of racing!
60kg (when I wake up)

Pretty clearly not a sprinter :noidea: I can't get really high cadences out of the saddle which seems to hurt at top speed.

Those are some very impressive numbers for someone that just started racing, particularly the 1 min power. Have you ever thought about trying track racing?

Thanks! I have never been to a track but it sounds pretty cool. But I thought track racing was more of a strong mans game; don't most races end in a sprint?

The sprint events - match sprint, kierin - end in sprints.

For the pursuit and kilo, no.

For the other endurance events - scratch, points, madison, elimination etc a sprint may come in handy but many of these are decided well before the finish line. Taking a lap is the way to go and those with the biggest engine usually do that (look to the current WC in the Points).

How important is watts/kg vs. watts/cda? I have good power for my weight but I feel like on the track the bigger guys are not going to be that much less aero and considerably more powerful.

In any event I am going to go try some track racing when I get a chance considering there is a velodrome only one hour from where I live. It looks like alot of fun and like a great workout.

Both have their relevance, watts/kg leaning more to those requiring acceleration (sprint, elimination), watts/cda at all other times (esp. pursuit). Whilst one should always strive to maximise the ratio of both a ratio does not quantify race performance, best just to hit the boards and roll and see how you go.

I just had to post my numbers today. I improved my 60 min watt from 252 to 276 watts yesterday and I changed the test from a 30 km TT which took around 51 min at 252 watt to a full 60 min test. The avg. watt for the first 30 km and the full 60 min test where both 276 watts.
I switch to 165 mm crankarm, but I cant procedure the same wattage as with my old 175 mm. But it accelerate much faster, if the cadence was a little to low with the 175 mm it took a year and a day to get up to speed.

Height 167cm, weight between 65 and 67.

5 sec - 979 watts - 14.292 w/kg - with 175 mm crankarm
5 sec - 910 watts - 13.664 w/kg - with 165 mm crankarm
1 min - 498 watts - 7.455 w/kg
5 min - 317 watts - 4.818 w/kg
20 min - 285 watts - 4.266 w/kg
60 min - 276 watts - 4.132w/kg - wuhuuuu

You guys have such good 60min power values! I don't really road race and when I do triathlons the intensity isn't 100%. I just plug in 225w to wko+ for ftp ... i can never really do a 60min test correctly, just go until I pop :D Unfortunately the power distribution has me spending 20% of my time at threshold, 14.8% at vo2max and 15.4% at anaerobic capacity O.O

height 177cm weight 56kg

not sure how to get 5sec with wko+
1min - 366w 6.53
5min - 289w 5.16
20min - 263w 4.69
30min - 247w 4.41
60min - 210w (lol) 3.75
