I have been riding a Flash 29er, and an Epic 26er. I like the big wheels better, so I am thinking about putting 650's on my Epic. I think that they should fit according to what I have read and measured. I am thinking about building stans crest 650 with some bike hub store hubs.

Does anyone use 650's on their Epic? would it be worth it?

Has anyone used the Bike Hub Store hubs? a guy I work with has a pair of the road version and they look nice.

What tires to run?

Thanks

They should clear in the back, but depending on what fork you are running you will have issues there. Fox forks should be OK, RS won't clear (SID, Reba), Specialized E100 will also not clear.

That Epic is sweet. How do you like the ride with the 650b's compared to the regular 26" wheels?

I have a 2006 Epic, with a fox fork, so I think that I should get enough clearance.

The bike is a slightly higher (about 1.8 centimeters) and the steerer angle is slightly modified. It is a little less manageable at low speeds, but on fast and technicals tracks it is really incredible.
The bigger size of the wheels is felt to overcome the obstacles and unlike the model 29er I can stay on a weight close to 9 kilos!
I used it with great satisfaction last Saturday to the Sellaronda Hero marathon of Selva di Val Gardena (Italy).
Here some pitc:

May I know what wheels are those (hub, spokes, rims)?

It says Stan's ZTR Crest 650b on the rims.... Pick spokes and hubs as you like.

A pic showing the room between wheel and chainstays would be perfect Monticone!

I got the same bike and didn't think there was room enough to fit 650b wheels... amazing news to me! :beerchug:

i would guess 2011 - prior to that, the frames had a separate tube from seat tube to top tube; 2012 models were 29ers.
