I'm going away for a week in August, with very little chance for structured exercise (there will be some fun sports going on).

To make the best of it I'd line to put in a week focused on base/endurance just before the holiday. Do you have any advice how I can do better than just doing 2-4 hours of riding every morning?

Also, do you think compression pants might help recovery, because I have to sit in the (home) office the whole day after the riding.

Ride as much as possible, eat well enough to do so, and do whatever recovery modalities you can- ice baths, compression, massages, etc.

Taking a week off will not and should not affect your overall fitness if you are training now effectively until your August vacation..
Compression pants
