Hi,

Buffled over why my knee always acts up whenever i ride my TT bike. Knee would hurt during intense effort, so far all bliss when i ride my RD bike. Brief setup of both bikes:

> TT bike with a 76 degrees SA, saddle setback 5cm behind BB;

> RD bike with a 74 degrees SA, saddle setback 4cm behind BB.

Both bikes with the same saddle, ride using same shoes and pedals.

Besides setback adjustments, any other suggestions? TIA

Different cadence during efforts on the TT bike?

Check saddle height on both bikes: center of BB to top of saddle.

Cadence slightly lower when on TT. Aren't this the usual?

Saddle height is similar between both.

More suggestions?

I suggest to take other measurements and see how much they differ between the bike. The measurements need to be exact not similar.
Knee pain is a result of saddle height or cleat adjustment or both.
This is all I can provide.

how low is your position on the TT bike?
could being hunched over be causing tightness thats leading to a knee not tracking right or something?

Where is the pain? In front or back of knee?

Yes, describe the pain. Where, onset, etc.

Thanks.

Pain is at front of knee, above the knee cap. Most intensely felt when pedaling downwards at 3 O'clock position...

Don't mean to be a broken record but are the crank lengths the same between bikes?

Spring Knee (see Andy Pruitt)? Maybe the more closed angle at the hip on the TT bike is the culprit.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Looking into them. ..

In the meantime, I've installed a rotor q ring to see if it alleviates. To ascertain , which spider arm does one align the Position 4 with in the ring? Watching videos and readups, I'm still confused. Thanks.

Which crank? On eg. Shimano, Sram, FSA, Rotor cranks it's the hole opposite to the crank arm.
