Dropped in the LBS today - shop owner has just been set a challenge - bring a customer's Pinna Dogma 2 under 6kg. The shop owner needs ideas by Monday when the customer is coming in for a meeting. Here are the details:

The bike presently weighs 6.45kg.
Current build includes:
Lightweight clinchers
THM Fibula brakes
2012 Campy Super Record Guppo - stock standard apart from brakes
Carbon SMP saddle
Look Ti blade carbon pedals
The rest is pretty stock standard - Most brand stem and bars etc etc

The shop owner stocks Schmolke, THM and Lightweight. He also has a Extralite UL stem.
The customer has just ordered Lightweight Obermayers and budget does not seem to be a limiting factor
The customer weighs about 75kg
The shop owner wants to ensure the bike is still fully functional and reliable - no Powercords or carbon chainrings (I tried to convince him Stephen but no go)
The Look pedals need to stay.
The Obe's might save say 200g(?) - so another 250g ish to go.

I have been concentrating on a retro build of late so my WW awareness has dulled a little

My initial thoughts include:

Aligator I Links cable housings - which I find far better than Nokons
Schmolke TLO bar
Extralite UL stem
change over the seatpost clamp hardware from standard Pinna to maybe Schmolke or KCNC cradle, clamps and bolts
THM Clavicula crankset - (what rings to get good 11spd shifting?)
Light (reliable) tubulars - which?
Light 11spd cassette - Ti or Al - (anyone making a decent one yet?)
THM Scapula F Aero Carbon Fork

Tubbies for sure easy 200g the clavicula cranks will net you another 100
Change the post to a lighter schmolke unit and bars will find maybe another 100
Veloflex extreme tires, pretty light and fast as hell
As for rings praxis will shift the best on the 11speed.
I wouldn't change the cassette and chain as nothing aftermarket works anywhere near as well.
Emporelli bottle cages, extralite expander, tune, pop, or extralite topcap ( new extralite hyper cap should give you a 10g expander cap combo ). All shifter pinch bolts in alloy ( 8mm m5 ), cable guild bolt and front mech cage bolt in nylon, bottle cage bolts in alloy ( nylon is lighter but less set and forget ), lizard skin DPS race tape, and the ilinks are also a big dropper. I like them upgraded with the kcnc DLC cables.
That should swing you well under and not have any fragile parts.

Excuse me if I'm being ignorant but isn't the dogma seatpost aero shaped?

Maybe pop qr I have a set and they are 30 grams, they can be cut a bit as they are quite long and save a couple of grams.

What about bottle cages?
Deda bartape?
Carbon clamps for ergopower shifters?

Yes, specific aero shape.

Plus, a different fork will look rather weird on the Dogma frame. The original fork wighs about 400g?

1. Switch the cranks to THM Claviculas. You'll save a hefty chunk of the weight there already

3. Switch all bolts to Ti or Al

I think the whole idea of buying the heaviest frameset made and them coming up with some artificial weight goal is foolish. Sounds to me like he is not a bike rider, just a bike collector.

Point being? Who says he cannot be one and want to do this?

well since you are taking an aero frame and trying to lighten in rediculously low... why not just drill holes in it? or better yet take a dremel and grind down the inside walls of the tubing...doesn't sound like it will be practical in the end anyway?

Who said it is aero beyond Pinarello's marketing department (or person) ?
