Headtube is a bit too tall and the IS40 came with a 9mm bearing cover .. but it did have the gasket below ...

I took the top cap from my cannondale and threw it on to head south a bit but I no longer have any gasket etc... just a bit more grease ... should I try putting in the whole top bearing assembly given they are the same size to get it more flush?

Leave it be?

Thoughts from the wiser bearing folk here?

If I could get it to sit completely flush I would.

Use the proper parts. You can order a low stack cane creek topcap. You can also get a -10 or -17 deg stem, rather than the -6 that you have.

I do have the proper part from cane creek ... for the integrated headset the lowest they make is a 9mm upper.

I was trying to avoid the severe negative drop 3T stem since that is what I have to use as well.

Hence - trying to make this work being a little creative :) This at least drops me half of what the 9mm upper was.

get a topcap from veloflyte (search weenies site).
It is more of a cover than a cap but only about 1.5mm.
