Fizik's new Kurve saddle
Moderator: robbosmans
Selle Italia Storika had a similar concept. Three suspended leather pieces supported by a stiffer frame.
I still have one on my Colnago and it is really comfortable for me.

Some pics of the saddle here and how it is different to other saddles.
Alloy frame with a rounded rim at the back that the saddle shell pulls over. Clip in the front tensions the saddle over the frame. The shell works in a similar way to older leather saddles. There are different versions of the nose clip so the saddle can feel harder or softer depending on the clip used.
Going to be trying on in weeks to come will do a review and comparison to Aliante, Arione and Antares.

Been riding a Fizik Antares 00 on both my road and track bikes and been fairly happy with them, but still got some discomfort after doing hard efforts (seated sprints) on the track, so I wanted to try something else.
Picked up a Fizik Kurve Snake, comparable to the Arione. I rode an Arione before the Antares and it was just as comfortable, but found it too long and would snag my shorts when standing, so I went with Antares. According to Fizik, I am a "Snake" person, as I can put my hands on the floor when bent over.
Anyway... first good ride on the Kurve today, about 40 miles on the road, and ended up with some nice sores from the hard plastic sides of the seat. Almost gave me somewhat of a rash, but it feels bruised deep inside when I touch the areas.
I had the saddle set up in the exact same position I had my Antares 00, but also tried moving it abit to see if that was the problem. I also had the "soft" insert in, but I found the main problem for me was the hard plastic edges of the saddle.
I think I'm going to sell it and stick to my Antares 00. Maybe this saddle just needs abit of break-in period, but I just feel maybe it's not made for everyone. I would be willing to trade it for a Chameleon or Bull if someone wanted.

So, to probably ask a stupid question, in the saddle construction, what looks to be cut outs when looking at the saddle upside down, do they work in the same light as their versus range/specialized romin/toupe etc.... "pressure relief"?
Everyone I know that has tried the Kurve saddles has ended up disliking them for one or more of the following reasons:
1. Too hard with the hard insert and too soft with the soft.
2. Plastic edges ate away at bibs.
3. Plastic edges prevented the soft insert from being soft enough.
4. Not doing as promised even with the soft insert.
Probably over a dozen people and no one has stuck with it in the long run. Most went back to their other Fizik saddles.

the front cutout seems too far forward to help nether pressure.

hehe, and i have had the opposite experience, i know at least 12 peoples that love them
I have found that ther is a break in period of at least 300-400 miles for this saddle.
The plastic on the sides is rounded off and after thousands of miles on a saddle I have not had any increased shorts wear.
It takes time to adapt to a saddle that supports by your sit bones, instead of soft tissue, which can get a little tender when you first ride the saddle. This usually goes away. I had the same issue with Adamo saddles as well.

7500 Miles on my Kurve Chameleon, I can't believe how many saddles I've ridden! http://www.flickr.com/photos/metanoize/7004692437/
I recently got a Kurve Chameleon and have got on with it from day 1, great saddle.
