There is a lot of nice pictures on the team sky's website. Scott Michael's galleries are worth a look.

What is that (very non-aerodynamic looking) strap, apparently emanating from the vicinity of Lemond's right shoe? It looks like a toeclip strap, complete with end button, yet Lemond was using clipless pedals. Is it a toeclip strap which Lemond used on the shoe for reinforcement?Wingnut wrote:]

For me it is hard to beat the Jesper Skibby Koppenberg photo(s), when the commissaires ran over his bike because there was no room to get by and the pack was coming.

My close second is the Hincapie/Knaven/Peeters Paris Roubaix photo referenced on page 5 of this thread.
Or Johnny Hoogerland after his barbed wire crash. Yowza.

Here's the video of the Jesper Skibby Koppenberg incident http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j03obuRAHiM. That driver should be shot. He was already stopped, then ran over the bike and semi-ran over the "gendarme" (or whoever that was in the orange jacket) who tried to stop the car.
He should be charged with 2 counts of attempted (whatever the equivalent to the U.S. 2nd degree) murder. I don't care if it was 26 1/2 years ago. If he's alive, put him on trial, and if he's already dead, then dig up the body or empty the urn, then put him on trial.

IIRC Lemond had really weird feet. Size 45 front & 42 heel, so his shoes were custom made. Early velcro closures weren't anywhere near as secure as laces so a toestrap was a way to beef up the closure,

Somewhat off topic, but perhaps this of interest to Tomac fans.

Doping, anyone?
Although in fairness, Basso was kind of like Bill Clinton - didn't inhale, ha ha.
