Let's assume that you have a mostly black frame that includes some amount of red and/or white. If you have a saddle that contains the contrasting color, do you prefer to match it up to your bar tape, hoods or both? Sorry, neither is not an option in this poll.

Having a red highlight on the otherwise white saddle, I went for red hoods with white bar tape, and I like it. But let me tell you, the fancier the bike is, the faster the look wears off, and you'll be longing for simple understated colours. Chances are it's the same the other way around

Bar tape is more important than hoods in this scenario

BUT if hoods match bar tape then the saddle doesn't need to match, but ONLY if they don't actually clash. So here the following would be OK:
white saddle black tape/hoods
white saddle red tape/hoods
red saddle black tape/hoods
red saddle white tape/hoods
black saddle white tape/hoods
black saddle red tape/hoods

Hoods should only be black.

Question for the mods:

How does this topic merit a place on the Road board?

Because I'm asking a question specifically about a road bike. If not here, where should it be?

fashionweenies.com . Or barring that, perhaps Cycle Chat.

Or maybe Introduce Yourself / Gallery "Hello. My name is savechief, and I'm a fashion weenie. Here is a poll for you."

Yes, I think black hoods are nicer.
