Used to have an '09 Ridley Damocles. Last year, the BB came loose in the shell. Warranty replaced it. Just got around to building that replacement up.

Have it setup as my backup race bike. However, I really, really, really love the way it fits and handles. They accidently sent me a 56 instead of a 58 like I had before and I much prefer the smaller size.

2011 56cm Ridley Damocles RS (1200g/375g)
Williams 58 tubulars (1580g)
Vittoria Evo Corsa CX
Williams Maxim ACS aluminum bars (44cm, 235g)
Williams Ionic CCS seapost (190g)
Thomson Elite 2x stem
SRAM Red shifters
SRAM Rivel RD, FD and brakes
SRAM Quarq S975
SRAM 1070 12-27
Look Keo Blade Ti
Selle Italia SLR Kit Carbonio
Arundel Mandibles

7.38 kg / 16.3 lbs

Have some other parts I could toss on there to drop the weight. Another wheelset; Reynolds Assault tubuars, ti skewers and SRAM 1090 11-25. Drop it down to about 15.3 lbs. I'm enjoying the Williams though, they are STIFF and feel fast.

Is that 2 frames you've had that have needed warranty replacements?
Bad luck? or good luck?

Looks awesome.
I'm enjoying that the "back up" bike still has a quarq and red!

Interesting that even with the smaller size you're still running a zero offset post? And slammed stem.

Maybe you were indeed on a frame too big with the 58.

I think at the time, the 58 was the right size. Was new to riding road bikes and just coming off a bad back injury.

56 is definitely better for me now. The Williams post has a 20mm offset. Was running a Thomson with no offset before. When I last rode the 58 Damocles, before I warrantied it, I ran a -17 3T stem.

edit; here is how I had the 58 setup, in the end:

If nothing else, the smaller head tube looks way better!

Maybe they didn't have a 56 available. Is the Damocles being withdrawn?

I have come to realize that with the modern generation of 2cm incrament carbon frames, it is generally the case that two sizes will fit a rider. The smaller of the two - like the 56 in your pics - offers more of a true racing-type position, like how the pro's have their bikes, while the next size up offers a position better suited to recreational riding, as exemplified by your 58 bike.

Nice bike jmilliron!
Wheels look a little busy for my liking but other than that...
New smaller size definitely looks as though its better proportioned.
My mate has 2 Damocles ( 1 red, 1 red/white) and they're growing on me. (maybe next new frame time  )

Great looking bike! How do you like the handlebars? I am very, very tempted to buy them, but I wanted feedback about them first. Did you weigh them yourself, or did you use the published weight? At 44cm size, is the hood distance approximately 42cm?

I'm terrible at life and didn't weigh them. However, I did weigh the Williams carbon bars I got and they were a gram less then advertised. Also, the three sets of Williams wheels I have were all almost exactly the same weight as advertised. So, I suspect they are the same weight as advertised.

Center of hoods is about 43.5cm. Center of the drops, at the end, is about 45cm.

Really like this bars.
