Some enhancements as I could not resist......... Damn me!

Just placed 2 orders...
Replace the Look Keo 2 Max with Keo Blade Ti will save me a bit over 70 gr!
Replace the Zipp skewers with Mt. Zoom Ti Skewers (43 gr p pair) will save me a bit over 40 gr!

Overall 110 gr savings!

Initial investment 235 euro (yes, the blades I found at a very good price!)
Hope to sell the "old" parts on ebay, so overall investment will be app 110,-

So an Euro a gram... thats not bad.... rigth?

After adjustments it will be at 7270gr total (excl the Edge 705)

After I finish off the GP4000S, I will replace them with lighter ones... but don't want to go to much into punctures... options?
Only thing left after that (without getting into to structural things) are the 2 bottle cages... options?
Maybe in a far far future I will be able to go below 7200gr on my 62cm bike ;-)

Or am I getting crazy & too WW?????

But if you're still looking for something try Veloflex tires and a chaincatcher.

this.

nice bike, leave it be.

I wouldn't go too far with Ti bits like pedal axles. They have half the modulus of steel, so flex twice as much. If you're 80kg+ then this begins to matter.

Bike is nice.

Only suggestion would be to get some Veloflex tyres for the summer, then maybe put the Contis on some nice shallow aluminium rims like Campag Neutrons or handbuilts.

Hi,

On the tyres I am really doubting... from the looks & feel I would like to go for Schwalbes... but the GP4000s are very punckture proof... that is very valuable as well....

Anyway, just did my last upgrade I see possible for now;
Ordered 2 x Arundel Mandible Carbon Matte Black

It's not on the weight... same as the Colnago cages, but the looks... hmmmmm! ;-)

Anybody interested in the "old" (3 month) 2 x colnago cages? 31 gr a piece....

So now I have the Aurundel bottle cages in matt black already on as well.

Also ordered a chain catcher and last but not least a set of beyond black decals for the 404's

This should do the trick for now...

No idea for further improvements...

Well, you did ask so....

Zipp wheels are for training, or mere mortals.

For sunny days, showing off and picture time, nothing beats Lightweight Standards, for your bike I would go with the black label version.

Hey,

I am a mere mortal ;-)

I realize the zipp's are under debate here, but I like them a lot. I also like the ride & feel...
The beyond black labels will make them more fit to the bike I assume...

Leigthweights are not my cup of tea wrt looks... and as I am 88kg, they are not as strong as the zipp's (what I hear).

Now with the decals removed....
I am now windering; should I do the beyond black or leave as is....

And the new bottle cages... match perfect!

No decals looks better, and I usually prefer the factory look.

Zipp and Italian frame and wheels aren't great aesthetic bed fellows despite the performance.

BTW, no need to ask the same question on 2 parts of the forum. This is fast becoming a forum about your Colnago. Give someone else a go too!

Hey, what do you mean with factory look?
They came with the decals on ;-)

The Factory look has the loudest, proudest decals (as they came out of the factory). As you had them before with white decals. Gives the wheel sponsor the greatest standout on pro team bikes, and hence lots of 'mere mortals' like them that way when parting with their hard earned cash to look 'pro' and let everybody know just how much they have spent!

Beyond that, those 'in the know' don't need to shout about what they have, and recognise high end wheels even without the decals. You sir clearly have taste in bike kit.

It's a bit like suits (bear with me here!). Cheap suits have no label. Expensive suits have a label loud and proud inside the jacket on the pocket. REALLY expensive tailored suits tuck the label away inside the pocket itself. The quality speaks for itself and there is a certain pride in knowing without shouting. So it is with wheels.

Your wheels are a great set of hoops and you don't need to shout it out if you don't want. You know what they are and anybody 'in the know' will too.

I have several sets of wheels and some are destickered and some aren't. TherE's no hard and fast rule.
