It's easy to tell the Time fakes. One came in the the LBS last week with an no-name headset. You can easily tell by looking at the steerer tube. ALL Times have a threaded collar on the fork to match up with the quickset headset. Steerer tubes also have a yellow kevlar weave and the cable guides look different as well.

If your buying a new Time frame and it doesn't come with a quickset headset, Time fork with threaded fork collar, Time specific alloy brake nuts and Time headset/stem spacers it's NOT a Time.

Another esay way it to look at the fork.:

Fakes have a carbon weave for the entire fork.

Time forks are black-ened at the top, and it turns into a carbon weave.

So are these fake lugged carbon frames actually lug + tube? Or do they just appear that way? Impossible to tell I guess unless they're taken apart. I'd imagine it's much easier to just copy a mold of a monocoque than a lug/tube bike.

As a previous dogma owner,i could tell the fake, but now with aero seatpost and braze on front mech, its pretty hard
to tell the difference now.
All the other fake frames on that site are hard to tell as well imo.
To be honest, surley the frame manufacturers must do something to stop this, or can they. :noidea:
People pay top money to own a high end frame, including myself, and to see them going so cheap makes me mad.

The big Time logo is upside down on the downtube! I am pretty sure this site a while ago was also selling "Colnago EPS" frames. They were wrong too.

These are NOT high end frames being sold cheaply! These are counterfeits being sold for more than they really should be sold for! IMHO, these should be priced similar to other generic and/or copycat frames from China, basically about USD$400-600 and no more.

Actually, this may help sell more frames through legitimate dealers as cyclists should now be afraid of buying a poor counterfeit online.

I have a genuine Time RXRS, and it is by far my favorite bike to ride because of its ride qualities, much nicer than I actually expected to be honest. It doesn't bother me if somebody else wishes to ride a counterfeit frame, but it does bother me that an unknowing cyclist may pay too much for a counterfeit frame that he thought was genuine.

On that version, the TIME logo is applied on the top of the downtube, and straddles both sides, so that on one side you see the bottom of the logo, and on the other you see the top of it, upside down. It's readable in its entirety from above. In fact it is correct.

I don't think there is much the producers can do about it - and the copies will definitely improve in quality, and who knows, in time may become indistinguishable from the real deal even to us connoisseurs. Piracy and complete disrespect for IP is typical for China I'd guess.

Yes, I admit it. I'm the weenie who bought this on eBay. Somehow it didn't register at first that the fork was separated from the frame which should have been a giveaway. It dawned on me after I paid for it and was already in shipment. Imagine my surprise when I found this link when I googled "fake time rxrs." Anyway, long story short, with this post's help (facebook link), I got my money back and didn't lose a cent. Just incurred a big headache.

So instead of having a Time in the stable, I ended up buying a new frame replacement Storck Fenomalist from a bike shop employee and saved quite a bit of money in the process.

Full spec:
Storck Fenomalist and Stiletto Fork (990g 55cm and 360g fork)
Campagnolo Chorus 11 group
3T Stealth Series Doric seatpost, Arx stem, Ergonova handlebar
Fizik Antares 00
Look Keo Cromo
Pro foam tape
Mavic Cosmic Ultimate
Vittoria Corsa Evo 320tpi tubular

14lbs 6oz
