How often do you open and regrease your grip shifts?
Moderator: Moderator Team
Hello, I was wondering if re greasing my grip shift will make them less noisy or not at all. I opened them recently because I had to substitute the rubber part as it was completely wasted, but i did not regrease them. Should I do it or it's not worthy at all? is a bit annoying to close them again and place teh spring in the right place and so on... thanks

I never have, but that doesn't mean it's a bad idea.

You could use slick honey or some similar light-body grease that won't attack plastic/rubber. Gripshifters come packed with something similar, but it appears impregnated with teflon, so it wouldn't hurt. However, its probably not going to reduce noise too much.
i just regreased them properly, haven't made any km after it. sound seems to be exactly the same. perhaps a tiny bit lower, and perhaps it works now a bit softer, but pretty much the same noise. it works a bit better though, they were kinda dry inside so i guess it was a good idea.
