Is there only Simkins EGG and soon TRIRIG Omega? :roll:

I know for HOOKER but it is very rare and expensive

HOOKER looks much better

Manufacturers making aero frames (Vengen, Foil, Felt....)
But front brake which is very exposed to airflow is same

Why shimano, sram or campagnolo cant offer in TT kit aero brake...just my thought

I dropped 10-15 grams from each of my Hooker brakes by dumping the heavy steel carriage bolt for a titanium bolt with aluminum nut.

Figured I'd mention for those interested -- the TriRig Omega is finally going to production. I'm opening up a pre-order that will go live on Friday at 11am MST: http://www.tririg.com/store.php?c=omega

For those who just wanted a modern-day Hooker brake, eat your heart out. The Omega is very similar in terms of its frontal area, but uses standard pads, accommodates wide rims (Firecrest, HED Jet, etc), works as a rear brake, and is lighter. About 130g with all hardware, including cable hanger.

Definitely plan on hopping on the pre-order. In part 3 you did some mechanical testing that seemed to indicate the brake was really powerful, great, etc. but that was the previous design. Would you say the new slimmer design is equally powerful or was there a little bit of power/modulation sacrifice? I doubt it will be a big problem at 140lbs. but I'm curious all the same.

If anything, the slimmer design is actually stronger. Although the exterior dimensions went down, the thickness of the internal parts went up. Everything got stiffer. Braking was fantastic on the prototypes, which I sent for lab certification where they quite handily passed the CEN and CPSC tests for braking, in both dry and wet conditions.

Of course, I "stacked the deck" a bit by using Kool Stop pads, which are known to be amazingly good ... but I guess it's not really cheating since the brakes will actually come stock with those pads.
