Brake set with good modulation under $200?
Moderator: Moderator Team
Looking for a reliable set of brakes with good modulation for under $200. I can get the hayes stroker trails f/r set for $140, rotors for $30, adapters for $17. so that puts me just under $200. any other options?
I just do XC, and I'm light, so dont think stopping power is important.
thanks!

Second hand set of older Shimano XT's, might even be able pick up a set brand new for $200 if you hunt around.

managed to get a set of 2010s I think on ebay for $120 shipped, just need rotors and adapters now. I don't want to spend more than $30 for a pair of rotors if you have any recommendations. I read that shimano brakes can be picky with rotors cause the braking surface of the caliper is smaller. any brand's adapter will work right?
the brakes I got look like this

Alligator wind cutter saw rotors. Like 86-87g/pc in 160mm and about 30$ for the set.
