1.2 mm fishing line or strimmer line?
Moderator: Moderator Team
anybody tried using 1.2 mm fishing line or strimmer line as replacement for steel gear wire?
it should be strong enough. As it may stretch a bit which, it may not work on the rear shifter but that should not be a problem for the font shifter.

Powercordz cover his option. They aren't cheap but they are indeed very light. The end "bump" on them is aluminium and composite. The cord is made of zylon fibres, coated in some sort of nylon looking stuff. They do not stretch.
Updated: Racing again! Thought this was unlikely! Eventually, I may even have a decent race!

^^^ I know about Powercordz, but £ 35 for a pair vs £ 1.50 for 4+ pairs makes me want to try out the cheaper option. Making the end ferrule may be their downfall but I jave a couple of ideas.....

the only thing I can think of that would work is braided fishing line, but that is quite a bit thinner... Monofilament stretches to much.
