I was under the impression you could not use 7x9mm rails on moots post.

I'm thinking of getting a Fizik Kurve saddle but not sure if the moots clamp will work.

I know the old design will not work - That's what I have

Doesn't look like it is a good fit from the picture. I'd be concerned about the clamp digging into your carbon rails and over time creating a crack that might lead to sudden breakage when you are sitting on the saddle.

It doesn't work well. If you look at the picture you can see the red clamp is at a slight angle to the inner clamp. These should be parallel. I've tried a Fizik and an AX Lightness, neither were right.

It's definitely not right...I haven't had any luck with any non-round rails. Might be able to force it but it seemed like a bad idea.

[BTW, the workmanship on that Moots post is absolutely beautiful]

Here is what I got from Fizik on which posts they approved for their saddles with 7X9 carbon rails...

How funny, they don't even include their own seatpost in that list!

I have wrestled with this problem myself. They 2 are not compatible unfortunately. I run a K:1 and had to take a step back to an Arione when I started to use Moots posts (both the older and newer design).

I think that Moots are too small a builder to invest in tooling a new clamp for the Cinch. In any case, it clamps to the rails from the side and I think that the ovalised rails are meant to be clamped from above and below, hence the ovalisation, but I might be wrong judging by the Ritchey post being included in Fizik's list.

I'm sure the Ritchey one bolt post is included with the caveat that the original clamp be substituted for the appropriate replacement clamp. Ritchey sells two replacement clamps for its one bolt post, the replacement clamps are larger and designed to fit various saddles with non-round carbon rails. The replacement clamps, being larger, actually clamp from the top and bottom when paired with carbon railed saddles.

^^^ This was before the Cyrano was brought to the market.

I'm running a Cyrano with mine.
Not light at 178g/cut, but it gives me great peace of mind.
