Can't stand this 29er revolution. Call me old school, mtn. bikews supposed to be on 26in wheels. I hope 29er go down just like any new technology that tried to make a point in mtb world and died.

In 5 yrs 650b will completely take over. Bike manufacturers are going to need to swing momentum to the 650b after the market is well established in 29er (which it already is) mode just to keep sales going.
Remember you heard it here first...I also predicted the return of lime green as a popular color.

I am also a 650b fan! I really can't stand how all these 29ers look like.

My Stumpy FSR 29er is great, i don't think I would ever go back to a 26er.

I was on the I hate 29'r bandwagon a while back. My buddy kept saying how much he liked his. So we swapped bikes for about 1 miles of a cool rolling single track. Swapped bikes back and we started talking about building me one (he is a very small local builder) Now all I ride is my 29, I had plans to take my 26 out for comparison but I just really dont want to I love my 29 so much! I will agree some of these 29 bikes do just look very very odd.

Hate to break it to you but 29ers are definitely here to say and they're going to crush your 26" wheels.
- Zipp rims will break if you look at them too hard
- R-Sys wheels will spontaneously explode
- The ZG crankset will never, ever exist
- Everyone needs Lightweights, even if they're fat and old
- Parts actually made of metal are SO 10 years ago

I've been converting my buddies...

goofy looking or not, they are here to stay, and are eventually going to faze out the 26" wheels except on kids bikes...

Why all the weight? You better get that 650b below 20 lbs.

I have my first 29er on the way. Hopefully next week.

Just a question (OK, a few...): Is there a place where 29ers have an advantage performance wise ? In the MTB World Cup circuit, are riders allowed to run whatever sizes they want ? Or the same UCI dinosaurs run the "show", and have mandatory equipment ? Are there any "use whatever bike you prefer" type of races that are more the 29er type, compared to a 26er, or even a cyclocross ?

Next year I'll be loking for a "november to april in Canada" bike for my area...

Louis :)
