I think that news is O.L.D... that is what I think.
Was owned/built/modified/worked over by Gunther Mai.....I have the wheels from it (from waaaaaaay back when it was 3.3kg). Gunther did monster K's on this bike and had it as light as 2.9kg himself. Spin elGato BTW.
Updated: Racing again! Thought this was unlikely! Eventually, I may even have a decent race!
Edit: 2015: darn near won the best South Island series (got second in age
-group)..woo hoo Racy Theremery is back!!

Hey Guys, the report was only October 13, 2011
If old, it is still an interesting read, theremery actually has the wheels (do you use them for riding or have you hung them on the wall), and Bricky21 thanks for the spec/weight list
How much did Gunther Mai weigh ... does anybody know?

Gum, if you can't get your Crumpton build within 20 grams of 2.7kg, we'll all be very disappointed in you.

Hey no fair...I can't get all of the 'one-off' custom goods from THM and those other companies.

While impressive, if a light bike is ever to come into its own, it should be on steep climbs. Yet the lowest gear per the configuration indicated is 36/16 (with 700c tires), which is not very low at all. I'm not sure why the builder did not go with a 34 tooth small ring, which would have saved a little weight and provided a lower low gear at the same time - would the FD not be up to the task? Or perhaps, despite the ultra-light weight, the bike was not used for serious climbs.

.......or may be he just liked the 36t ring?
I think that's maybe the 20th blog that lifted a bunch of my shots and didn't provide so much as a link back. Some of them even re-cropped the images to remove my watermark. So kind of them. (EDIT: the blogger at hand has now provided a link, at my request) The original story for that version of the bike is here, which I created at the 2010 Interbike:
