Pop went the crankset!
Moderator: robbosmans
I ripped apart my KCNC RD1 crankset at the pedal entry point today. (Now I know what that creaking was!)Luckily Im a slow climber so only a few cuts & bruises. Oldish (3000kms crankset but nevertheless)
A couple of admittedly poor quality photos here
What Id like to know is:
1) Doesnt KCNCs (patented method) of drilling out the crank to reduce weight, and then plugging the end of the hole with a threaded bung, which sits orthagonal to the pedal hole, create a stress riser? Has anyone seen this failure before?
2) More importantly, I was considering a ROTOR 3D crankset as replacement, but dont they use the same system?
Fanks.

There's sometimes a buggy.
How many drivers does a buggy have?
One.
So let's just say I'm drivin' this buggy...
and if you fix your attitude you can ride along with me.

Next time I think of buying something other than a DA crank, I must remember to look at this...
Let me know if you want mine
Glad you're ok

Obviously user error. Someone pushed too hard on the pedal.

I have seen cranks from just about everybody do that. Call KCNC, they will probably help you out. They hooked up a customer of mine whose spider cracked plus gave him a gift card to cover his race entry fee.
