so the classics start this weekend with the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and i was wondering what everybody would be drinking while watching this and other belgian classics :beerchug:
I've only tried the more common belgian beers available in supermarkets like leffe, duvet and hoegaarden so others to try would be great.

also how does everyone else manage cycling and drinking?
at the moment i only drink probably once or twice a week, one or two beers each time and i don't think this is negatively impacting my performance.

My Favorite Belgium beer is Piraat. It's very strong though. 2 and your buzzing...which is a great beer if you're trying to minimize the number of calories.

Kwak, with two of them I am set :beerchug: I think they are 8.4% alcohol.

The glass is awesome:

Yah... The Piraat is 10.5%. That glass makes it look so good :beerchug:

I wish I were drinking this...

but alas, I'll likely be drinking either gulden draak or delirium nocturnum (not bad alternatives)

But if you are rooting for the yankees in the races, a perfect choice would be Avery's reverend - a belgian style quad brewed in good 'ol Boulder and kicks the ass of many of the best belgians at their own game.

Fin du Monde (not Belgian per se, but Belgian style)
Chimay (blue or red, depending on my mood)
Brother Thelonius (Belgian style)
Hennepin

and my favourite of all Belgians: the lambics. Any lambic will be perfectly fine.

mort subite is worth trying just for the great name (sudden death), look for the 'oude gueuze', it is unsweetened 7%, the others are all sweeter, some with fruit, and less alchohol, i tried one but too sweet for my taste

a few chimay blonde is a very pleasant way to get totally spannered

got these today from asda, they had more of a selection than i expected and as well as these had leffe blond, hoegaarden and hoegaarden cherry.
really like hoegaarden but haven't tried the cherry version might have to get one of those next time.

of the ones i bought duvel is the only one I've had before so hopefully the others are nice......

next year i would like to take a trip to belgium to watch a race, ride some cobbles, and drink some beers :beerchug:

Blah. Belgium beers aren't my thing at all.

Give me a good IPA.

I'm sick of them too, to be honest. I'm Really liking Bell's lager. Just a good old fashioned American brew :beerchug:
