Hey CAADicts,

Is there anyone here who has a list of the fasteners of a CAAD9 frame?

I want to go full Ti/Al bolts & fasteners with my build.
I already have my chainrings done (Far & Near).
So far, I have the stem & bottle cage bolts sizes covered.

I'm looking into a Rear Derailleur bolt & pulley kit. I'm considering KCNC there
(not the absolute lightest, but looks to be a little beefier and sturdier).

Would definitely appreciate any suggestions on products/manufacturers that you
guys have used and ideally, just for future reference, maybe we can put a list
together of all CAAD fasteners by model.

Just got my Bolts from Torronto Cycles
Dropped the weight of my 6700 ultegra to just over 160 grams.

Do have to say one bolt (not included in the derailler kit) appeared to be eroded or something, probably by the anodizing process. Can not comment on durability just yet, but it was one of the cheapest kits I could find. Shipping was fast too.

It's the best frame you can buy in it's price range.
I've seen some really nice built up CAAD8's.

Cool. I'm planning to order from his brother in the U.S. who sells the same items (JerseyCycles).

What bolts/fasteners did you replace on your bike?

I've admired the CAAD since my first CAAD4 back in the 80's. Now I have a CAAD9 as my second road bike. Initially thought of as my backup but I find I ride it quite often. I owned a lot of carbon bikes(Cervelo, Trek, Scott, Giant) but something about the CAAD9 that I enjoy.. one of the biggest reasons is probably it's price. I thought prices were crazy for high end bikes a few years ago.. now it's just insane. Anyhow here's the details to my CAAD9 that currently weighs in at 15.9lbs or 7.2kg.

Frame: CAAD9, 56cm, Std. BB
Fork: Easton EC90 Straight
Stem: FSA OS150
Handlebars: Rithcey Evolution Carbon, 42cm
Tape: Performance
Group, Shifters, brakes, front and rear Der.: 2010 Sram Force
Wheels: Reynold DV46 with Veloplugs
Tire: Continental GP4000S
Tube: Continental
Seatpost: Deda Black Stick with magnesium head
Seat Clamp, Token Ultra Light TK160Ti
Seat: Sella Gel Flow
Crankset, FSA SL-K Mega EXO 50/39
Cassette: Sram Red 11-26
Chain: Dura Ace 7900
Water Bottle Cage: Tacx Tao Alum.

Goal is 15.5 but still durable. To get there, I have in mind a new crankset, stem and possibly seatpost. Sram red black crankset might be what I will choose as it's light and reliable.

Thanks!

I totally agree with you on having a light bike that's durable.
I just got my bike to 7215 grams/15.90 lbs.

When I do eventually go carbon, it'll be an EVO because it's proving to be what
it claims it is. And, I like the fact that it's compared to aluminum in strength.

I don't know if you notice from my build sheet, but all my contact points are carbon.
Stem, bar, steerer, pedals, seat post and saddle (rails/body). It makes a difference.
It allows the frame to be as stiff as it wants to be and the bits keep me insulated
from the road, but not alienated from it. Honestly, it's going to take "a lot of bike"
to impress me after this one.

I can see you lose an easy 50g with a stem swap (3T maybe) for $100.
If you went with a set of Planet-X CNC Ultralight brakes, another 75g
can be found for about $150. That's an easy 125g right there.
That should put you at 15.65lbs easy.

Thanks a lot QR! I really appreciate it.
Gives me a reference from which to work from.

Definitely achievable. I actually have a Arx Team stem and 0G Ti Brakeset. Crank Set should be a big chunk of those 200 grams.

In terms of carbon at all the contact points, makes senses and I def. notice the carbons bars. Carbon wheels feel great too!

Thanks! The CAAD9 does have some lovely shaped tubes.

I'm thinking Rotor 3D crankset now.. about the same weight as SRAM Red. Anyone running a set on their CAAD9? Just wondering about the graphics will look on it?
