Campy cassette into a Shimano hub possible?
Moderators: robbosmans, Moderator Team
Hi there,
I have a Shimano rear hub for my rear Zipp wheel. Yet, due to rear derailleur change (from Dura ace 7900 to Campy 10), I need a Campy-compatable cassette to be installed on the rear wheel. The problem arising thus is I am having a Shimano hub, so is there a way to put a Campy cassette into a Shimano hub?
Advice from you guys are highly appreciated! Thanks!!

assume you mean that shifters also campy. you need to swap the freehub. zipp sells campy ones. splining is quite different to shimano.
There's sometimes a buggy.
How many drivers does a buggy have?
One.
So let's just say I'm drivin' this buggy...
and if you fix your attitude you can ride along with me.

You have a couple of options but you should be able to use the shimano 10 speed cassette with the campagnolo rear derailleur and campagnolo ergo 10 levers.

it's not the cheapest option, but http://www.excelsports.com/main.asp?pag ... 1&minor=10 conversion cassettes seem to be what you're looking for.

Shimano 10 speed, sram 10 speed, and Campagnolo 10 speed cassettes, has the same distance between the sprockets...
The difference is that Campy's sprockets are thicker, and therefor also longer lasting. Witch makes it harder to measure

Or just keep using your Shimano cassettes and use a Shift Mate.

You are right, i got this paper at school
and believed it, how stupid of me. Sorry to have spread wrong facts in here
You do not need a Campy cassette. You can run Shimano cassette with campy levers + RD (10sp) without any trouble. My girlfriend has been riding bike like this for a long time without any problem (Campy chain). The Shimano cassette provides smoother shiffting.

Yes. +1
Try this - it works for me both ways round and with minor changes in cable tension both setups index 100% perfectly if the chain and cassette are both roughly equally used. I really don't understand why anyone buys special cassettes and fiddles with cable devices for this. And whether you use chain x, y or z doesn't matter either.
