Good point. What post do you plan to run? I am using my Thomson Elite Setback for cross. It is relatively heavy but I am far from smooth and weigh 80kg on a good day. It is nice to know that your post will still be okay when you slip on the mount and slam your junk into your saddle. I think if you are smooth and weigh under 85kg, you can get away with a carbon post.
I wish you good luck on your build. I have a felt F25 frame from 2005 in the same liquid orange color that I plan to build into my road single speed before the summer. I'd love to see some pics of how everything turns out for you.
I picked up a Felt cxr 1.1 post cheap. It matches the bike perfectly. It weighs 249 grams, but its sturdy and I feel safe with it.

Heres a quick update. I ended up going with a Sram Red crank and used my rival cross chain rings. Hung mostly everything. I am still missing the rear dearailleur. I need to order Shift cables ( I-links) and bar tape and hoods. I am leaning towards white tape and red hoods. What do you guys think?
I threw my beater wheels on for the meen time. It weighed 16.2 pounds missing cables, rear derailleur and tape. The wheels are tanks 1900 grams.

This looks good so far. Do you have any ideas for what wheels you will use? Your decision there will determine whether you make your 7400g goal. If you cut enough weight from those you can negate the addition of tape, cables, a rear derailleur, and a chain.

I was thinking the same thing. I will probably pick up some 38mm carbon tubular wheels. there are some on ebay around 500 bucks that I will probably try out. Will probaly switch to a red rear cassette and kmcsl chain. This project has slowed down a little. Buying a new car, finishing up my Lynskey level 3.
