The Stem by Extralite has a semi-bad rep.
It has broken on a few MTB riders. The face plate is of a weak design although I think they have altered the design now but I can't be sure.
You might have better luck on the road but do you want to take the risk?
One to consider is the Syntace (man I sound like a broken record)!

andrew means the ITM "The Stem".
But it has the same reputation (if not even more worse).
You can find several pics of broken "The Stems" floating on the net.
It usually cracks in the steerer clamp area (too much machining there) and Magnesium isn't very suitable for stems at all.
You might also want to read the safety warning from ITM about it.

So what lightweight stem do you recommend to use with a carbon bar (Easton, because I like the shape)?
Thanks,
Andrew
i'd think about the syntace

I like the FRM Web-Stem. Velo did a review of stems recently and it came out best on a price/features comparison.

Hm... I don't think I have ever seen it in QBP... do you know who imports it?
Thanks,
A.

QBP doesn't carry everything, although they'd like to think they do (ducks). info@frm-usa.com but only if you work in/own a bike store.
