A light bike doesn't replace good fitness.

Hi,

A friend and myself have decided to start a new blog that covers life as two teenage cyclists trying to make their way into racing. Everything from kit to trying to wake up in the morning is covered. In our quest to try and fit racing and training into education and work, we'll post reviews of everything we find, hints tips and tricks.

Worth checking out just for the quality stories of falling off.

Thanks.

Since it's a new blog, any advice/questions given would be highly appreciated.

By the way, it's two guys running this, any comments on either of their training is greatly appreciated, it's very bewildering. Oh, and if you could help Ant with his taste in music (Latest post on sprinting) That would be appreciated too.

Start by having them tested. When I was a kid, we didn't have the technology to do that. As a result, I got pigeon-holed and 'wasted' a lot of years trying to be something I wasn't, rather than focussing my efforts at what I was the best at...

So, like a ramp test then?

Personally, I would start them with a 4-Minute MAP 'test' to get a 'feel' for fitness and then work from there.

It is much more than just about ventilatory thresholds, though. There is something to be said for testing them, over a period of time, using other protocols to see where their particular strenghts may lie (Wingate, etc.) You may be very suprised to see some of the results. They might be very different than you would think by just looking at someone.

Thanks for the info, I'll make sure to look into it and then even make it into a feature for the blog.

Me and Adam had a chance to get 2 hours track time on Donington Park last night. Was amazing.

Went through several posts trying to sell me stuff before I got to any actual blogging. I won't be back.

Trying to sell you stuff? If your referring to the ONE review we have there, we were not trying to sell it, it was a simple review. That post is 3 days old aswell, so it's not like you have to go through several posts before you get to blogging.

We have a few more posts up since we last updated. Some time next week, we'll also have an interview with two riders who were in this year's Tour De France, so keep looking :)
