for now a minor replacement on the saddle and stem, good enough to fight the urge to buy something useless

Cool bikes!
I'm moving to the PI (Manila) in January. How's the road biking? Will be in the PI about 6 months. Was worried I would have to leave my bike in the States.

Hey makoy, had another look at your pics of the Caad 9 on page one. I noticed you had a different seatpost then. Is it an Atik, and can you tell me what your thoughts are on this seatpost, especially comfort wise. Giving it some thought to put one on my flash.

hi, unfortunately, it's not an Atik. Atik seatposts are too expensive for me. It's an OTA brand seatpost (aluminum). comfortwise, i really cant tell. weightwise, pretty light (195+g) for the $25 price tag.
talking about flash, im in the market for a decent 29in frame. i am initially considering a flash29, if it is available locally. my Q is, is the flash as good as a caad9 if it were a mtb frame? i mean, are they on the same level as the caad9?
back on topic.

regarding the Flash, it's a pretty good frame. Although I must admit I can't compare to a lot of others. had two Thompson (Belgian brand, warrantied the first frame and didn't like them both al that much) and a Giant XTC with a Sid fork, which wasn't bad at all.
My ride report on the flash up to now:
It's a nimble yet sturdy frame. In a series of swooping s corners, that's when it really seems to fly in comparison to others.
It's funny you mention how it compares to a CAAD 9, of course ride characteristics are different between a road bike and MTB, but switching from one bike to another it's a very similar feel. They are both on the harsh side of the scale, but offer tremendous amounts of road feel. The flash is very predictable when it comes to breaking traction and cornering high speed.
In MTB marathons it will leave you feeling a bit knackered. I also test rode the carbon flash 26'er and carbon 29'er, which seemed better in the comfort department. The save chainstay does work better on the carbon ones.
That's why i'm concidering changing posts. The Cannondale Save post (which was on the test 26'er) is a bit to extreme as it tends to build up rhytm in the flex and have you swinging back and forth on your post, especially on light, fast terrain. Also the OPI stems have a reputation for developing a creak, this can be fixed (knock on wood) by applying PTFE tape around the lower thread of the steerer tube.
