Under 12.5lbs now, nice kane! Really like the look with new wheelset and the extralite stem cleaned up the front nicely. Those wheels must be light! I'm guessing around 930g?

Have you considered putting a lighter crankset on there like an SI SL or Clavicula? You could really save some more weight there. It's killing me I can't use an SI SL on my bike as I'm running 165mm arms these days.

Will keep an eye out for the studio shots.

Could you try to explain the difference you feel between the Stans rims and the Edge?

No doubt the Edge look nicer, but is it worth double the price?

Well for a starter I got the egde wheels from eBay for a fair bit less than they retail for and basically in new condition. As I'd been humming and harring about buying a set built to extralite hubs it wasn't hard to talk myself into these...

Secondly I was after a stiffer set of wheels than the hyperclincher wheels where.. As I'm around 85kgs right now I'm in the upper limits of what you can get away with using the stans rims. The just can't run the kind of tension required to build a nice stiff set of wheels..
They are fast and have great braking, spin up quick and with the 24/28 spoke count get you home with out having to limp if you break a spoke...

But the 45 wheelset is lighter, faster ( more aero and they have ceramics ), stiffer ( the hyperclincher rear would rub the frame when climbing out of the saddle and I had to avoid the 25 cog out of the saddle cause of spoke rub ),with the veloflex extremes the ride is way nicer and as you pointed out better looking.

I'm pretty sold on tubulars right now and hate seeing such a great hubset going to waste so I'm considering getting a pair of enve 1.25 rims and rebuilding the wheels into proper climbing wheels, the extra tension and the 24/28 spoke count would make the wheelset pretty stiff and as they have the same brake tract and are carbon swapping em would be fast and easy so they would be used...
Maybe even run a lightweight front tire..
Would put the bike under the 5.5kg mark hmmm

My friend shot it in his photo studio, just waiting for the pictures from him. They will look amazing... My shitty photography doesn't do it justice.
Also I found a very elusive extralite seat post to complete my extralite road gruppo...
Very happy with that.. While it's prolly not lighter than the newultamate post it does match the wheels, stem and small parts

Thanks for the props pete! :D

What Serotta did you ride before, CDA? Ti? Why did you choose the Parlee over an HSG or Meivici? I'm trying to choose between these 2 brands. Thanks.

I had a CDA but is a was 2 cm to long for me.. It was a beautiful bike, a real pleasure To ride but it was a little bit big and it messed with my back on long rides
I had it shorted up as much as i could to try and make it work.
I really like the parlee though.. It's 1.4kgs lighter and it's a way more nibble and better handling.
I would buy a serotta again though full custom fitted though.
If you want a weenie racer then I'd say parlee
