i have also heard about the CODA stems . , components are 105 ,i would haved liked to went with the Dura -Ace, which it had originally . also the DA stuff has went thru the roof $$ wise !

then you will love the CODA saddle ha,ha ,,, the 105 is period correct 5600/5700 series

a cinelli grammo stem would be period correct. so would topline cranks. and Dia Compe or "Brew"ed brake calipers. hell, even Mavic Zap!

For the period of Cannondale/Saeco frame, Campagnolo Record 9spd with alloy levers was used.

Recently I missed out on a Caad4 Aero and am really bummed about it. These oldskool frames have so much presence around all the matte black carbon everyone's riding around on these days.
Having said that, I don't think I'd like a Caad3 as a daily driver.

Great project! I had that frame as well, and LOVED it.. I sold it off this year to finance part of my new Supersix build. I miss it - it had so much personality. Pic of mine below before I sold it.. I clearly didn't stick to period - it was D/A 7700, and put on some Mavic K Sl's. I do want to argue though that the Syncros Stem/Seatpost are in fact period (the seatpost I purchased in 1998, 6.4/3.2 Ti, and stayed on the bike for 13 years without fault) and the Syncros Stem as well.. Though I ended up buying a new old stock Syncros stem on Ebay last year (there was a guy dumping tons of them on Ebay) to adjust for my older age, and inability to be stretched out as much as I was in college! Anyway, I highly recommend the Syncros -- super light and durable, and still readily available on the used market. Coda stuff can get pretty ugly -- though the magic motorcycle is an item I would GLADLY welcome on any period build.. I lusted after that thing for years, and never got one. I think my bike weighed in at 18lbs here.

The one thing I would do is change the headset to a chris king. The chris king is clearly the best for that frame and will go with the period.
