Cannondale Hollowgram SL
THM Clavicula
FRM CU2M
and more. But best lightweight have to be Cannondale Hollowgram as you can use it with different spiders and chainrings as you like.

There's nothing wrong with Shimano XTR either.

Other options -
Lightning.
Hollowgrams.
XX.
Rotor.
Race Face.
XT.

are we talking 2 or 3 chain ring?

XTR is good and light but a wee bit lighter (according to manufacturer - I have not wieghed them) is Truvativ Noir.

Wha about e13? Have heard only GREAT things about them so far, 850 g for cranks, rings, BB30 and all. And suppusedly super stiff!

850g isn't light, that's the problem ;)

yeah, true, its not super light at all, but for mtb (at least in east coast usa) strength and stiffness over ultra light is the way to go, ultra light doesn't last a year out here

Where in NY do you live?
I move back from Westchester late last year and raced in the H2H series on both a 9kg alloy Cannondale 26er and my 8kg Cannondale Flash 29er.
XTR & Cannondale Hollowgram cranks run.
Spent many, many hours at Blue Mountain, Sprain Ridge and Graham Hills in all seasons.
No reliability issues.

awesome, yeah I run XTR and ride all those places, Blue Mtn is my favorite, Ringwood, Stewarts too. I am just saying anything on the ulra light spectrum seems either not stiff enough or dicey to me on big rocks, drops, etc., XTR is fine, but cost of new rings is almost the same as a brand new e13 crankset which has bigger interface (BB30), 30mm axle, etc and I wouldn't trust a too-light alternative as my experience w ultrlight parts on the road has been spotty. MTB I choose to play it safer just a bit.

Lightning not worth the money.
Light indeed, but quality simply is not there.

Am running a Middleburn Uno setup and have never had any problems with them.May not be the lightest set of cranks but they're strong and pass the test of time.

I would go with xx which is plenty stiff and light enough for my 8.3kg bike .
