So I finally have my first road bike ready to be picke up this Friday! woot woot! I've been wanting one for over a year now and haven't had the guts to pull the trigger on one til now.. Coming from DH, then to XC riding, road was just inevitable for me.

Anyways, I'd like to share my current build, I was on a budget so please don't criticize too much ($3000).

2011 Cannondale SuperSix 5-C - Team Replica Color
SRAM Rival Shifters and Derailleurs (swapped out Shimano 105 for SRAM at a cost of $100)
PRO Stealth Evo Integrated Bar/Stem Combo
Shimano WH-RS80 C24 wheelset
Schwalbe Ultremo ZX tires
TRP R950SL Brakeset
FSA Gossamer Pro BB30 Compact Crankset
KMC X10SL Chain
Specialized Toupe Pro Saddle 143
Cannondale Ti/Carbon Bottle Cages
Speedplay Zero Pedals (Team Green Color)
Lizard Skinz Bar Tape
Cannondale C2 Seatpost

Not sure if its worth it, but I may swap out the seatpost one day and I would like to get a new crankset.

thanks! i took her out for the first time today, it was a great ride.. i'm so happy with it!

i haven't gotten my schwalbe ultremo zx's in the mail yet, but as she's currently built, she weighed in at 16.7lbs. not sure how that rates in road bike terms, but my aluminum scott spark 50 weighs in at 22.85 lbs, so coming from that i've noticed a big difference in riding style and speed..

i think the new tires will shave a little off.. and i hope to purchase some new cranks one day to drop some more weight..

apart from upgrading the grouppo one day, i'm not sure where else i can cut weight without spending a fortune... any suggestions?

tires and tubes.. ward axles for you speedplays, cut the seat post and or replace wit5h a lighter one and those skewers look heavy too
also there is a good chance you have a very heavy expander bolt system hiding away in them there forks some where
these are all cheep upgrades :D

I've got some Schwalbe Ultremo ZX tires that should be arriving this week, and I have some lightweight tubes as well.

I saw some 42g ti/alu skewers on ebay for around $40.. are they any good? Would they be that much lighter than the shimano skewers that came with my RS-80s?

I'll look into cutting the seat tube.. hopefully I can shave some there as well.

I'd really like to get some Cannondale Hollowgram Si cranks, but they are sooooo expensive.. can u recommend any other more affordable options? SRAM Red? FSA SL-K carbon?

Both kncn and token make light cheap skewers that can be had for cheap from eBay
SRAM red cranks are the lead sinker in the groupset and they have a high q factor
Not an upgrade in my books unless you want extra stiffness plus the chain rings arn't the best shifting or looking..

I'm a campy fan boy so I can't make comment on the other crank sets

Good cheap saving from the right place is the rim tape.
Stans sealant tape is about 5g per rim and works really well
STD heavy duty tape is any thing up to 25g per wheel.
$10ish per roll and enough to do five or so rims... Bargain!!

as for the expander bolt, is this a good one to replace the stock one with? I have no idea what the stock on weighs in comparison to this one.

I know they're a little on the deep side, but I love it.

Love the color color coordination, the black wheels make the black on the frame pop out in an awesome way. Just wish the handlebar tape was a brighter green :)
