I just stumbled upon this: http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/s ... ook-30994/

It seems as those EVO S-Works shoes would be great for cyclocross, no?

interesting. I was told that a stiff sole is not a good thing but then I run with the shimano m 310 or whatever the model number is.

Whats the price?

A stiff sole is essential imo for cyclo cross...it's all about max power transfer after all.

A shoe to look out for will be the new lake mtb shoe, with a heat mold sole, that will be an impressive shoe if it's anything like the road version of lakes heat mold stuff.

No word on the pricing yet, I'm guessing around the same as the "regular" S-Works MTB version (350 usd I think).

The Boa is not good for cyclocross. Mud will get into the mechanism and ruin it. The S-works shoes are great for road, and drier off road riding. Cross can be too wet and muddy. I've seen it. I never sell the Boa equipped shoes for cross. I always suggest the Pro instead. That being said, the new MTB shoe looks excellent. I use the S-works road shoe by the way and love the Boa system.

yup also heard bad things about BOA and mud. I've even jammed standard buckles in the mud

Anyone know if the 2012 S-Works MTB shoe will be different from the 2011 model?

Pricing is 375$ for the Evo. Little more for that extra rubber

boas are so easy to take apart and clean out, people are just scared of what might be under that little wheel.
also, the boa on the Evo is a cartridge unit, if something goes really bad you can remove the whole thing and replace it with a new one without taking the unit apart...

Nothing at all wrong with the boa system...if it does get filled with mud, although I doubt it would, as the above said, you just undo the small bolt/hex the cap pops of and you can clean it out. I've changed the caps on mine for the pink ones, it was very simple...

i have a pair of 2011 model (s works MTB shoe) and was disappointed with the heel padding/cup (or lack thereof). my heel would lift out of the shoe when running so had to go back to a lower priced model. the shoes fit fine, there was just no padding to keep my heel from lifting out.
