No, not a new bike, but a beautiful newborn baby girl. She's wonderful and makes me very very happy, but how to find the time to ride my bike? Any of you out there with experience in these matters, who'd like to give me some tips?

Thanks a lot!

:welcome: to the group !

I have 4 daughters, now 9-9-10-13.

Best thing that could ever happen to me.

I just use whatever time left I have, and try to make the best out of it. Sometimes it means I will have to use the trainer on a hot, summer, weekend sunny day for example...

Oh...talk about this to the other half, and ask for some feedback...

Congratulations :beerchug: !!!

Louis :)

Thanks! Her weight's 3260 grams, well below the UCI limit ;)

Yeah, trainer rides will be a necessity. Plenty of hot sunny days around here in Jakarta, LOL

its where you stop riding and put on 30 lbs  and then realise its tough getting back in shape, my 1st daughter was demanding, but my 2nd i found more time fore exercise, sleep patterns will dominate your training time, we found that during the summer months with longer nights , it was easier to get her to sleep earlier, giving mom and dad a little "off" time, also maybe ask your parents to sit once in a while.
In the winter just use the turbo (boring i know but its keeps you fit)
But never forget they are magical times and dont miss her growing up.

What Powerful Pete said.

I had my first literally two weeks before I rode the Etape du Tour last year. I was at the height of my powers...until baby arrived. Within two weeks, I had hit rock bottom, and arrived at the Tour completely exhausted.

But that's ok, because I was an ecstatic dad.

Invariably, things will change, so ride when you can, but enjoy your family first - and who knows, in a few years you might all ride together...

I'm a little more advanced then everyone here. I have two daughters. 25 and 23 years of age. The oldest will be married next June 18, 2012 and starts med school August 8th.

Haha, a true WW response! I'll post a build list soon

@all, thanks for your responses. Yes, it's a fantastic experience and she's definitely priority no. 1 now. It's just that i'm afraid my carbon & alu babies might become jealous...

Two kids here, both under three.

For any semblance of training I recommend a power meter, a good indoor trainer, an alarm clock and getting used to a lot of sub hour pain sessions at 5am.

Congratulations. :beerchug: :beerchug:

Kids will drain your will to live as they age, but in return they'll give you some weird sense of satisfaction. It is the kind of malaise and pride filled feeling only the criminally insane mind and the parental mind will understand. if you never drink or use drugs, you will crave them after a while.

I have 2 sons and wouldn't trade them for the world. One thing I never understood my dad saying when I was younger became very evident as I became a parent: "When you have children and you CARE, you must choose between being their friend or being their parent. Pick one because you will never have both regardless of how hard you try or how much you want it". Very true!!! :smartass:

Thanks for all your feedback, guys  I'm loving every moment of fatherhood so far! And I'm already getting used to my new 'standard' morning ride...
