Praxis Works chainrings vs. Stronglight CT2s?

Roadbikereview just posted an article about these. Look pretty decent. My Ultegra 6600 SL chainring is sort of being lame on light upshifts, a definite step down from my DA7800 rings (went to a Specialized BB30 crank ). I was all set to buy a set of CT2s from xxcycle, but this came up right before I was about to pull the trigger. I like the design better aesthetically for sure.
Any input?
Here's the RBR press release.

Madcow posted something about them here before, also on the FWB blog:

They look nice though

Has anyone tried the Praxis rings yet? I would be interested in shift quality reports.
Just a question on the CT2 chainrings as well. I'm about to order some for a Shimano 10speed drivetrain using 130bcd and I see there are two options. Does anyone know what the difference is? I'm assuming the top one is the correct one for my application.
http://www.xxcycle.com/130-ct2-1-10-11s ... -s,,en.php (there is also a matching inner type)
130 CT2 1° 10 /11Speed TYPE S
and this one was an older version?
http://www.xxcycle.com/130-ct2-outer-9-10s,,en.php (no matching inner)
130 CT2 OUTER 9/10s
Thanks for help.

That second link is only available in 48T anyways.
Praxis said release in a month for their chainrings on their Facebook page btw.

I've been riding prototype Praxis 53/39T rings since early '08. They're by far the best rings I ever rode and still going strong. They're on par with Shimano or better even. They're really slick and wear has so far been negligible. Shifting is silent but direct. The standard road rings ones work above expectations but I did hear there were some minor issues with the compact road rings or the mountainbike ones, though they should be fixed by now. The rings I tested are essentially the ones developed for the Kore Gradient 130 cranks:
Word has it that David Earle, the developer of the chainrings, spent the past 14 years developing his shift ramps and teeth profiles and I'm sure the more recent rings are even better. That said, the newer Shimano rings since the time I first tried Praxis rings and they've gotten better too. Apart from Shimano, I don't know if anything else comes even close.
All Praxis needs to do is get the rings out there with a competitive price point so consumers have easier access to their products.

Because I went compact.
I've spent the better part of the last year or two using Praxis rings, both with proprietary bolt patterns like on the EE prototypes and in tradtional such as I pictured in the blog. I have been really pleased with the pre-production ones, However I'm happy that I have managed to get an actual production version set, even though production has not yet started, and they have not disappointed. They really are a nice balancing act of weight, shiftperformance, price and looks. I have also gotten a few more details about the actual production ones.
Here's some of what I've picked up lately.
Compact, (the ones I've pictured.) 34/50 or 36/50. 90grams for the big ring, retail price $165 for the set.
Clover (looks like the compact but 130bcd.) 39/53 or 42/53. 94 grrams for the big ring. $170 for the set.
Classic road. Same specs as the clover but with a more traditional monochromatic look.
CX, 36/48, (110), 98grams for the big ring, $165 for the set.
MTB triple, 22/32/44, $145 for the set, 88grams fro the 44t
Mtb dbl. 26/38 or 30/42 with (104/64) $130 72grams
Mtb dbl, 120/80bcd, 26/38 and 30/42 $130 72grams.
Black will be the first color. More info to come on the other colors and sizes, but these are the first ones that will hit the market. I think we'll see the first ones available in about a month.

Wow. That's double the price of CT2s. Guess I know what I'm going with.

Hey guys...
Praxis here... wanted to chime in and say hello to the thread...glad people are talking about the upcoming ring sets we're launching.
Just like you guys, we're discerning riders that want great products for a good price, and we've put a great deal of love and sleepless nights into getting these rings out there for a value price. We know how important price is and the balance.
In the current landscape of chainrings on the market, there are only 2 companies that know how, and can forge. US, and the big blue S company. When we forge these rings, we're moving a great deal of metal in just moments and also aligning the aluminum grain structure. So not only are we able to pack in all the LevaTime shifting features, but we're creating a much more rigid, and stronger/tougher tooth by forging rather than with CNC manufacturing (basically every other ring out there) The manufacturing and technology packed in these rings is huge so it's definitely NOT your average chainring.
We're really excited to get these out to the market. Just putting final touches on things before we get them out, and we sincerely hope you give us a shot next time you're having to purchase new rings!

I'm failing to see the value part of the equation here?
For $85 + shipping, the CT2s are ~1% heavier, and have the reputation of being one of the best shifting aftermarket rings available. Even at double the price, I find it hard to believe that the Praxis rings will have 2x the shift performance...

Praxis/Madcow,
Will those road rings all be 11-speed compatible? (please say yes )
Or will there be separate ones that are?

chainring life probably. forging makes the material denser, harder, tougher, less prone to wear.
