Maybe the first Pantani Corsair around these parts?
Designed by Carrera, though I've seen these as Geurciotti's too.
Quick ride was very nice - stiff, but also plenty smooth for a monocoque.

If its the same as Guerciotti then its a repainted generic. I think they're marketed under several Italian names.

It looks good - colour matching, in yellow, which isn't easy.

But the brand :shock: ??? Surely it links with all of the things which are wrong with cycling, as well milking the image of a tragic, drug-addled and deluded figure.

Anyone who has not, should read this book http://www.amazon.co.uk/Death-Marco-Pantani-Biography/dp/0297850962 If you don't want to read the book, at least look at the line chart of his hematocrit over time.

Ah, Pantani, the brand is indeed dedicated to the fallen Italian cyclist.
An amazing talent with a sad end to his days.
I had always been inspired by the abilities of Il Parita, even if he did has his lesser qualities.

Most importantly, this is not the "milking" of a name. Quite the opposite...
Marco's family contracted Carrera (his frame-builder of choice) to develop a line in his memory, with proceeds of the sales dedicated to the ONLUS foundation, which helps troubled Italian youth through sport.
I actually think this is quite a noble cause, which is why I decided to bring the brand to Canada.

The top-end Nero frameset is hand-built in Italy with custom geometries - I have mine being built up next week.
This Corsair model is a monocoque with a tapered headset and aero ISP.
I'll follow up with more ride comments soon, but somewhat similar to my old Look 595 - stiff, solid, and light, but not exceptional in any one category.
Just seems like a very nice all-rounder that can be raced as well.

Also, while this model is made in Taiwan, I would not be so quick to call it out as a generic.
Carrera designs their frames in-house and builds most of them in Italy.
It is possible they simply sold the rights to this model to Guerciotti, as Deda had done with their Scuro RS the last several years.

i think you made a really good job of that. it looks factory matched, and as another commenter mentioned, yellow is not easy to do it with.

Fizik rep didn't like the TT saddle on a road bike, but the look worked!
I'll looks into the hoods, but it might be overkill.

Agree. Nice match of wheels and handlebar tape. And thats it. Generic frame with bad graphics and come on, dont use "pinarello" letters. On the other hand, i guess that is what the chinese could find on Google when they searched for "italian cycling"; Pinarello and a dead cyclist (i bet they had no clue he was on epo)...

To be clear, this is a Carrera-designed frame.
From Marco's former frame-builder....in ITALY.
Not sure why all the far-east hating?!
Seems like Cervelo, Canyon, Cannondale, Colnago all come from the same place without the criticism.
If you want built-in-Italy, go with the higher-end Pantani Nero instead.

Quick ride report on the Pantani Corsair on the blog now.
I was fairly impressed with the complete package - nice combo of stiffness, low weight and smooth ride quality.

Build highlights include:
- Dash carbon saddle, which is surprisingly comfortable
- Fulcrum wheels, are bomb-proof and good looking for less $ than Bora's
- Ritchey carbon classic bars might be my all-time fave
- Tune 6 gram kevlar cages are a bit flimsy for racing, but just fine under normal conditions

No single outstanding area where the bike blows me away, but certainly a very nice over-all combination that exceeded my expectations...
