80mm Bora's look nice. Wonder about the weight.

"The wheelset’s svelte 1540 gram/pair weight (715g front, 825g rear) is quite low for such a deep wheelset."

That is what Zinn is reporting on Velonews.

Usual range of weight for a 80mm wheelset would be 1700-1800 gramms, right?

Not in tubular form. For example, Zipp 808 (which are similar in depth) are 1,520 grams.

They look nice and seem to be competitively light, but i don't get where Zinn comes up with a spoke count of 21 for the rear wheel. Can't quite figure that one out.

Campy uses 2 driveside spokes for every non driveside spoke. There are 7 of these 2:1 spokes for a total of 21.

There are only 18 spokes in the picture of the wheel.

It is what is called "triplet" lacing. Doubling the amount of spokes on the DS vs the NDS allows for more equalization of tension throughout the build. This will theoretically be much more rigid and power efficient. All though I don't know why they picked 21. They could have gone 24 count just as well with triplet lacing.

You are right, it seems the new 80mm wheels have 18 spokes in the back instead of the 21 on the regular Boras. I guess it is stiff enough with 18 spokes at that depth. Probably more aero too because of fewer spokes.

The Racing XLR 80 also have 18 spoke in the rearwheel, so I guess Bora will have the same - as the picture shows.

Looks like Campagnolo is finally giving TT and Tri some attention. I'm looking forward to a new Ghilbli that'll take an 11 speed cassette.
