So I thought it was time to finnish last year's winter project. I wanted to find a vintage frame that was stiff for climbing but was not in any way expensive. I found this almost NOS full stock original Cannondale 3.0 on ebay from first owner. After a small bid war I got it for just $530. At first I dint know what to do with it because it clearly hung out in storage for 19 years and the original shimano 600 and cinelli parts......spotless! Well I eventually decided to go with my budget weight weenie plan and put all the sweet parts on another bike and started the madness!

How does it ride?

Very interesting work. I had a similar C-dale a couple years ago, and I thought it had potential for lightweight build. Instead of cutting the ends of the dt shifters, I would've drilled out the rear. I did this on a set of 105 shifters with good result.

Oh, and don't forget to break of the pin on that chain. :D I noticed it in the rear der. pic; though you did mention that it will be replaced, so maybe it was just a mockup.

Thanks for this, now I want to find another old C-dale frame.

That bike is seriously badass! 8)
I really like these headtube logo's.
The drillium is very nicely done. I've done a seatpost recently and it's not easy drilling by hand let me tell you. :P
The ilinks are the only thing not really contributing to the aesthetics. Gold is too bling in my opinion.

Yeah I did drill the shifters at frst but unforchantly I did it a bit uneven with the hand drill so Im thinking of getting new ones and giving it another go.

As far as the chain goes I took it off another bike and was going to use it despite the fact that I had cut it way too short but when I was putting it together i was not paying full attention and used a 7 speed pin.....oops

Thanks for all the complements guys!

Love it! I agree, removing the logos from the fork will clean things up a bit.

Are the Ti bolts on the stem stock? That's pretty light for a 120mm alum stem.

The bolts for the stem are not stock but the stem will only cost you $20 on ebay!!! hvent found it over $40 anywhere. With the money you save you can get a Ti bolt kit!
