Looking forward to see your completed Alero!

Edit: what year is your Alero? I see that the 2010 model already comes with a Deda Black Fin...

From looking back at the catalogues (yes sad I know it   ) would seem that my Alero is 08/09. It is the model before they were produced in the 'Oria' mould, unfortunately it was supplied with a 12k fork with alloy steerer, tbh it lets down the overall performance of the frame, it would have been nice to see it supplied with full carbon up front as standard :)

Sad? How do you think I know that the 2010 Alero comes with a Black Fin fork? I see you're based in the UK, I think Ribble sells them at a reasonable price...

Yeah they do stock them, but they are out of stock at the moment .....

I'm not quite sure of the quality but there are some interesting 12k carbon forks on ebay I notice ....

Hi, did you buy one of those Ebay forks? I have no experience with any of this cheap Chinese stuff (not meaning to be derogatory), I'm curious to hear what your impressions are.

Cheers!

err no, I don't know enough about them tbh, I just didn't want to waste the cash I could have spent better else where

My front end has started to shape up now though .....

I went for a 3T finishing kit in the end :D

Looking good!
And of course you can always change your fork later when you've found the right one.
Can't wait to see the full build now!

quite busy at work this week, but will try to finish off mid week as I want to test it out if weather is ok next weekend - so will post some pics of completed build soon.

One major negative is been able to see the alloy steerer through the cut out in the rear of the stem

Totally understand where you are coming from regards the choice of fork etc

It was nice to see that the original(supplied) bottle cage bolts were nice and light and of a nice quality.

Image
Scuro RS Bottle Cage Bolts (Original)

The Elite cages came in at an expected weight - not the lightest by a long mark, but I like them and have them fitted to my other Guerciotti and I know they work well on rough roads :D

Still I wonder why the supplied Deda ISP seat post clamp was such a lump at 170grams  :? maybe some fettling(Ti bolts  ) would reduce it some what :?:

More to come ....
