2011 Reynolds 46C

Just got these in yesterday for my new Litespeed Xicon build. Gray decals - excellent finish, the new breaking surface with the 3k weave looks so much better than the previous generations.

Front wheel, no qr's or rim strips, all decals including warning stickers - 673g
Rear wheel, no qr's or rim strip, all decals including warning stickers - 798g
Total weight: 1471g

There is probably a lot of weight in decals, they cover more than the previous generations. Pictures to come, the new proprietary QR are stunning!

My Reynolds Forty Six clinchers weighed in at:
frt: 680gm
rear: 820gm
total:1500gm

compared to my DV46C UL at:
frt:615
rear:780
total:1395

(bare wheels, no rimstrips, no QR, w/decals)

Was a bit disappointed with the extra weight but the ride is sublime.

A heavier wheel! *

The weight is added after warranty claims for melting rims on the DV46ULs, the new brake track is made to be stronger. The same for tubular version, an increase in weight. As it is the brake track I am not sure if the rim is itself stiffer.

* But if it lasts longer, that is good.

I think the 3K version weighs a little more than the UD verion. It's a cosmetic layer.

How different is the ride? Curious to know...o have the dv46ul's

The biggest difference is in the braking track which together with the new blue pads results in a very predictable and consistent/even braking. The wheels also feel a bit more compliant and smooth over the rough stuff (might be a result of full aerolite spokes on rear, compared to aerolite/competition mix) but equally as stiff laterally. I have been hard pressed to notice the slight weight penalty yet, but the winter weather has kept me away from any hill riding where I might feel it more. Will provide full ride report once most of the snow clears and I can get out and ride them a bit harder. By the way the gray decals on mine look great on my R5.
