A shining example is the brand new, on the initiative of TUNE developed SAPIM Superspoke: Their impressive data are already a good entrance-card - and so we are presenting the lightest stainless steel spoke ever made!
The Flyer Super Spoke has been developed for extra light wheels. A new grade of stainless steel enables Sapim to reduce the diameter of the spoke, whilst increasing its strength and fatigue resistance. Effectively, the CX-Ray spoke decreases in weight by 17% and increases in strength by 120N in the middle section. So we get closer to an admission in the TUNE assortment...

To adapt Goethe: „All theory is grey...“ - with TUNE it is traditionally getting colorful – so let´s go to hit the trails! After Marcus Klausmann and the CENTRAL-Team have tested the capability in hard use, we welcome the new SAPIM Superspoke as a new member!

That's pretty damn light. Now if only they could get a good distributor to reliably stock Sapim spokes.

17% lighter means 17% less stiff. Keep that in mind when coming up with the specs for your wheels.

Well eric, i'll keep that in the back of my head...but all my other wheels have Dt Aerolites and even a bit less of flex wouldn't bother me. I'll combine it with high tension.

Pillar PST X-TRA titanium aerospokes are still lighter...

The stiffness of the wheel is achieved through the tension of the spokes
where wheel geometry and the actual force achieved through wheel architecture is the most important factor determening wheel stiffnes.
The fatigue strength of most spokes is already far and beyond that of most nipples and spoke threads (and rims and hubs).
The elasticity of the spoke is a much more determinant factor in the actual perfomance of the wheel (torque transfer, stiffness, sensibilty to steering input etc).
This pretty much rules out the Pillars...
Aerolites and Cx Rays excel in this regard.
