There is a "mountain" in Florida. Hard to believe in a place where Disney's Space Mountain theme park ride is the third highest mountain in the state. Sugarloaf Mountain they call it--more of a glorified speed-bump me thinks... But then, just as you make the turn off County Road 561 onto Sugarloaf Mountain Road, you suddenly realize why they invented compact cranks and lightweight wheels. 8% grade, topping out at 15% for just over one relentless kilometer. Certainly not Lo Stelvio, but never-the-less, on my sixth lap I decided the most recent upgrades to the Colnago dream-build, dubbed "Il Generatore," were worth every penny. Lightweight Standard III C 190 Clinchers and a Super Record 11 Compact crankset have taken the ride from great…to off the charts. Two more contemplated upgrades: Gravitas brakeset and LOOK Keo Blade pedals.

Well, thank you all . She flys like the wind and would make Ivan Basso proud on the climbs. It's been a privilege building, and a blast riding this beauty.
Not much more I could do here in terms of upgrades. I love this frame, but at 1440 grams, I've decided the only part of this package that could improve things further...is a lighter Colnago frame. Trading up from a 360 Modena, to a Ferrari 458 Italia...stay tuned.

Beautiful bike. I hear you on the compact cranks too. My coach is trying to convince me to give mine up but I'm frightened of the hills without them now.......
Don't let the truth get in the way of good story...
