Estelja - it was a non-SL version, a Synapse to boot, and you were "unpleasantly surprised" at the weight? What were you honestly expecting?
Jim, looks great. The AC's and bar tape are a great match! I know there will be haters for the tape any minute now though
and fantastic weight. Now, just that saddle bag...
BB30?
And how have you found the ride?

Perfect matching colors and nice weight as well!
Tinea,
Cannondale had a tech document on their site from 2005/6 titled "Stiffness to weight ratio" which compared the first year Synapse to other top end bikes of that era. They listed the Synapse (before SL's even existed) in 56cm as 1050 grams, so I was expecting maybe up to 1200g for a real world frame. The document disappeared last Fall after there was a long thread on this site about the topic. Regardless, I like mine as it rides great but I am always curious when someone builds up a Synapse from scratch (rarely done) to see what other frame weights might be.

Ahhh, I see.
I've only ever known Cannondale's weight policy to be as it is now.
Seems they could have been giving 'vare frame' (ie: no paint) weights in the past, to the displeasure of their customers once true weight was established?

Very nice, classic style racing machine. A purpose built weapon.
Road bike: Cervelo R3, Campagnolo Chorus/Record mix...

Synapse tech document is still around with a different link:

56cm shown as 1090 grams. Must have been minus every hanger, paint and a few layers of carbon to be almost 300 grams lighter than mine. Oh well, live and learn. Just more motivation to take weight from other parts of the bike.
How much lighter are Hi-Mod versions %-wise than the regular versions on average?

What a terrible scam that document is. If you put in the correct weight for the Synapse it goes from winner to loser in that sham comparison. Too bad, I really like that frame. I would love a high mod in Liguigas paint scheme.

This bike looks quite similar to my own, its got 105 all over for now but plan is to put that up to sram force next year. Loving the wheels, how about you? and as someone commented the handlebar tape may be have mixed opinions but it works. Seemingly great minds think alike! have a look.
